Agriturismo Piombaia
Our farmhouse is located just 2.5 km from Montalcino, among the typical Tuscan hills in the heart of Val d'Orcia. We are a biodynamic farm with large green spaces that offers hospitality in lovely and welcoming apartments with kitchens. During your holiday you can relax in the pool or Jacuzzi, enjoy the dishes in our restaurant or visit the cellar to taste our Brunello di Montalcino. Ours is a territory of natural beauty such as Mount Amiata, artistic riches such as the Abbey of Sant'Antimo, tourist, cultural, sporting and hiking activities and the Bagno Vignoni spa.
Apartments, Swimming pool and Services
Agriturismo Piombaia has seven independent apartments with kitchenette (with electric hobs, sink, microwave oven, fridge, utensils and accessories), independent heating. Guests are offered various services such as a swimming pool, a traditional barbecue and reserved parking for cars. Hiking routes to be practiced on foot or by bike are also indicated and guided tours of the winery with the company's products and wines are proposed. In the summer, in addition to the swimming pool, the farmhouse has a heated outdoor hydromassage tub.
Osteria La Crocina Piombaia Restaurant
Osteria La Crocina Piombaia Restaurant is inside our organic farm, adjacent to the farmhouse. We offer typical local dishes with tasting menus and pairings of organic and biodynamic wines from our farm, including Brunello di Montalcino. Ours is a typical seasonal country house cuisine with a prevalence of organic and 0 km raw materials and vegetables from our biodynamic garden.
Vineyards and Cellar
The Piombaia vineyards are located in the north-east of Montalcino in the center of the production area of the famous Brunello. The work in the vineyard with natural means is characterized by the use of horses instead of tractors and by the harvesting strictly by hand. Solid farmyard manure and plant material as fertilizer are the primary means by which fertility is achieved. Green manure, crop rotations, mechanical anti-parasitic control, pesticides based on mineral and vegetal substances are the other means to support the vitality of the vineyard. Plants and flowers have the main task of helping the growth of the vine by nourishing the subsoil. In the cellar, tanks without controlled temperatures, spontaneous fermentations without the addition of yeasts and sulphites, aging in wood for a long time, racking and filtering reduced to a minimum, ensure that Piombaia wine can express its full potential.
Wine tasting
Our tours begin with the view of the breathtaking panorama of the vineyard and open with the presentation of the characteristics of the vines, the grape variety, the growth process and the biodynamic method which has become our philosophy of life. You will get to know our horses that roam freely in the vineyard and you will discover the fundamental role they play. You will learn about the life cycle of the vineyard and how the vine leads to the wine. The tour continues with a visit to the cellar where you will discover the entire winemaking process and then we will move to the farmhouse where you can taste our products accompanied by a selection of appetizers. Each tour can be customized, upon reservation, according to guests' requests.
Two-room and Three-room Apartments
We offer hospitality in charming and comfortable two-room and three-room apartments where you will feel at home, but immersed in the nature of large green spaces within a biodynamic farm where you can relax in the swimming pool or Jacuzzi. The two-room apartments consist of a living area with a small kitchenette with microwave oven, bedroom and bathroom. The three-room apartments consist of a living area with a small kitchenette with microwave oven, two bedrooms and a bathroom.
